Inert Nitrogen Systems for Chemical Plants

Nitrogen is ideal for use in the kind of atmosphere found in chemical plants. It can help reduce oxygen levels, which is crucial for preventing explosions or fires. Similarly, laboratories rely on nitrogen to purge certain parts of equipment.

Nitrogen also prohibits oxygen or sparks from causing combustion reactions with any solvents being used. Another nitrogen application is inerting the headspace in process tanks or other chemical loads.

LDH manufactures proven nitrogen generation systems that seamlessly pair with your chemical plant's operations. We will build nitrogen generators according to your conditions. To learn more about which nitrogen generator is best for your needs, please contact a member of our team today!

Nitrogen Systems for Bright Annealing

Bright annealing is an important process used to improve the grain structure of metals and other materials by softening them, enhancing their flexibility, and reducing their brittleness. The annealing process increases the strength of the metal, making it easier to process. Bright annealing can be applied to aluminum, chromium, cobalt, copper, inconel, low-carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium, and superalloys.

The annealing process is divided into three stages as the metal is heated at a high temperature. These stages are recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth. Controlled temperature and atmosphere result in a brighter surface and a finer oxide film. If the annealing process is not well controlled, unwanted cracks, pitting, stains, and corrosion can appear on the metal. For optimal results, the air must be oxygen-free. Nitrogen with a purity of 99.99% and above is used in bright annealing and oven curing processes.

Nitrogen Generation for Heat Treatment

The purpose of heat treatment is to make alloys, metals, or other materials suitable for different applications. Heat treatment can change specific characteristics and physical properties of various metals. Incorporating a nitrogen generator into the process can improve product quality and reduce waste.

At every step, oxygen (O₂) must be eradicated. When O₂ comes into contact with any metal heated above the 600-degree Fahrenheit mark, the metal oxidizes. In other words, when oxygen is present during the five heat treatment processes,

Our superior nitrogen generators reliably meet all your heat treatment needs. Each one maintains oxygen-free air, which is the quality assurance required for your heat treatment process to produce strong and rust-free steel, iron, and other metal products.

Nitrogen Generation for Laser Cutting

When a laser beam processes the material or metal being cut, the nitrogen generator removes oxygen around the cutting area. By purging oxygen with a high concentration of pure nitrogen, the result is a smooth metal surface without the adverse effects of oxidation. A nitrogen generator set to the correct specifications for this process can produce optimal results for the desired surface finish of the metal, while reducing waste and saving money.
